Islamabad, June 3, 2024 โ International travel is set to become more expensive for Pakistani travelers as the National Assembly (NA) passes the Finance Bill 2024-25. The new bill imposes substantial excise duties on plane tickets for both economy and premium classes, effective from July 1.
Excise Duty Details:
– Economy and Economy Plus Class:
– Excise Duty: Rs12,500 per ticket
– Business and Club Class:
– United States and Canada: Rs350,000 per ticket
– Europe: Increased by Rs60,000, now Rs210,000 per ticket
– New Zealand and Australia: Rs210,000 per ticket
– China, Malaysia, and Indonesia: Rs210,000 per ticket
– Middle East and Africa (including Dubai and Saudi Arabia): Increased from Rs30,000 to Rs105,000 per ticket
These taxes will be applied at the time of ticket booking, significantly increasing the cost of international travel for Pakistani passengers.
The government aims to boost revenue through these measures, as outlined in the Finance Bill 2024-25. This bill also includes other provisions aimed at enhancing tax compliance and generating additional revenue for the state.
Effective Date:
– All international travel from July 1
